Valentine’s Day Activities

It is almost time to enjoy all of the excitement that Valentine’s Day brings to the classroom! While this is a time to focus on friendship, kindness, and generosity, it can also become crazy. Between holiday fun and sugar, the classroom often becomes chaotic! Since no teacher wants to deal with behavior issues during a fun celebration, it is essential to have the day structured. By planning Valentine’s Day activities, the day can progress smoothly. Thankfully, there are plenty of activities to fit a large age range of students!

Valentine’s Day Classroom Challenge

Students love a challenge! When they know something is a competition, they are ready to have fun and focus on the task. Thankfully, this is the perfect resource when planning Valentine’s Day activities.

Students will compete in small groups to complete 10 academic challenges. After each challenge, the class will open a challenge ticket envelope and solve the code word. The first team to solve all 10 code words is the winning team.

Since planning a celebration takes a lot of work, everything you need is ready! This includes directions and 10 academic challenges focusing on math and language arts. The challenges include word problems, addition and subtraction, 3-dimensional shapes, compound words, word scrambles, and more! Additionally, there are 10 challenge tickets, a winter challenge code, and an answer key.

Valentine’s Day Activities: Conversation Hearts

Students love those little candy hearts! They are delicious, come in fun colors, and have cute sayings on them. Best of all, they work in so many ways when planning Valentine’s Day activities.

For instance, students can build towers out of them. It is fascinating to see how creative students get in their designs. Teachers can even work on teaching or reviewing measurements after students finish.

Additionally, students can use the sayings on the candy to write sentences. Depending on age and ability, they can even write a paragraph based on 5 randomly drawn candy hearts. Students will love sharing their work with classmates!

Valentine’s Day Activities: Paper Heart Challenge

Students love a good challenge! To do this, they each get one piece of paper and hold it behind their backs. Then, they see who can create the best cut-out paper heart. While this is challenging to do when holding the paper behind your back, students are so focused! The smiles and laughter make this activity so memorable for all!

Valentine’s Day is such a fun time in the classroom. Since student energy will be at an all-time high, having Valentine’s Day activities ready will be essential. They will love celebrating with their classmates and having a teacher who understands their excitement.
