Favorite Christmas Activities

As Christmas gets closer, students eagerly count the days! They cannot wait for Santa to visit and to see their family while enjoying delicious food. However, this excitement also makes it hard to focus on class. Since teachers understand this, they love to add their favorite Christmas activities to lesson plans. For instance, the ‘Twas the Day Before Christmas Break Readers Theater is a fantastic way to keep students focused on learning! Likewise, the Digital Christmas Activities include incredible ways to focus on Christmas excitement and learning. Students will have so much fun that they won’t realize all of the learning going on.

‘Twas the Day Before Christmas Break Readers Theater

When planning favorite Christmas activities, teachers love to incorporate festive elements. Luckily, this activity is the perfect way to do that! The reader’s theater activity includes a 3-page script perfect for a 1st or 2nd-grade classroom. Every student will have a role in the script to foster a classroom community.

During the story, students will share all the funny aspects that occur as they anxiously await the final dismissal before the break. Teachers can even edit the script to add in student names or the school district. Honestly, students will love seeing their names in the script while knowing they have a special line. Secretly, this is a great way to ensure students have a line they can be confident saying.

One of the hardest parts when picking a reader’s theater script involves the number of people needed. Thankfully, this will not be a problem with the ‘Twas the Day Before Christmas Break readers theater! There are different script options for 20, 22, and 25 students. If needed, teachers can also combine lines if there are fewer students in the classroom. Or, interested students can have more than one line. Honestly, there are multiple options to ensure every classroom can enjoy the giggles and smiles this script creates!

Students can even present their scripts to other classrooms or family members to spread Christmas excitement.

Digital Christmas Activities

Truthfully, it can be hard to plan fun Christmas activities that also keep students under control. However, the last thing any teacher wants to deal with is behavior issues on the days before break! Thankfully, one of my favorite Christmas activities includes terrific ways to keep students laughing and behaving!

Specifically, this resource includes fun Christmas party activities. For instance, there are jokes, mystery pictures to solve, and This or That slides. Additionally, students can unscramble words, go on scavenger hunts, dance during brain breaks, and play Santa says. Students can even create elf names. This will be a holiday party students never forget!

Kindness Cards

While students love holidays, they can be hard for some adults. For instance, some people do not have any family close by. Or, they lost a loved one this year. To help spread Christmas cheer, students can create kindness cards!

Students can draw fun designs and write short messages to the recipients. They can then deliver them to staff members, friends, or local organizations. If you have a retirement center, nursing home, veterans home, or children’s hospital close by, they will love the cards!

Christmas is one of the most exciting times of the year!  However, teachers understand how hard it is to keep students engaged. So, I am excited to share my favorite Christmas activities. Students will love having a teacher who brings their interests and excitement into lessons. Get a jump start on holiday activities for 2023 by checking out my seasonal activities on my blog!
