Happy New Year!

January 1, 2012 by Jodi 20 Comments

The first post of the year!  I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful New Year’s Eve!  We had family over, watched the kids play, played games, ate food, and had a great time!  Now everyone is still sleeping and the house is quiet, so I thought I’d get on here real quick and post a New Year’s poem that I’ll do with my students bright and early tomorrow morning.
Just click on the picture to download.
I’ll also have them complete this goal sheet.
I’m making these cute pencil flags that I found at Sunny Days in Second Grade for my students tomorrow.
We will also do some activities from Cara’s FREE unit at The First Grade Parade.
I’m trying to make that transition back into learning a smooth one on Monday morning and I hope you can too.  (Unless, of course, you’re like the rest of the country and you don’t go back until Tuesday.)  Please tell me there are others going back tomorrow?!?!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Sorry to say we aren't going back until Tuesday. I wish we had off before Christmas…we went until the 23rd, so it's kind of nice to have this extra day now.

Have fun! Thanks for sharing the poem!

I love, love, LOVE the poem! Thank you so much! I think I will use it as our Morning Message on Tuesday (yes, I said Tuesday, I'm so sorry you go back tomorrow…boo) and then use it again later in the week for our Poem of the Week. So awesome, thanks! 🙂

Super cute stuff — and I feel terrible that you have to go back tomorrow. That's just WRONG. (I don't go back until the 9th. I know!!! Thank goodness for Furlough Days!)
I hope your first day back is great!

Sad to say I had to go in on Thursday to begin setting up a new classroom (new building…big move). I'm ready to see the little kids, but oh how overwhelming it has been to pack prior to Christmas and unpack during break…only a teacher would understand. Wish me luck!
