Meet The Teacher

Hi!  I’m Jodi and I’m a 1st grade teacher in Indiana.
I am currently in my 16th year of teaching.  My first job was as an Art teacher.  This was not my major, minor or endorsement, but it was a job and it got my foot in the door.  This gave me great experience working with Kindergarten through 5th Grade students, and it allowed me to use my creative side.  After two years, I was offered a 1st grade position.  I moved to 3rd grade after two years and then back to 1st, where my heart belongs!
My husband and I have three amazing kids that keep us very busy!

I started blogging in December 2010 as a way to reflect on my teaching.  It has been an amazing opportunity to connect with other teachers all over the world.  I opened up my Teachers Pay Teachers store in February 2011.
Still being in the classroom every day allows me to fully understand today’s students’ needs, but maybe even more importantly, I completely understand teachers’ needs.  I know that teachers work hard and are pulled in so many different directions.  Even though we would love to plan exciting and engaging lessons all day every day, there just isn’t always time.  That’s where I come in.  I absolutely love researching and developing educational products that work well in the classroom. I strive to make learning fun, practical, and rigorous for all students.  My goal with this blog and with my teaching products is to make things that are easy to prep and can take some of the stress off of you as a teacher.
I love to connect with teachers.  Make sure you are following me on Instagram and Facebook for more tips and ideas.
I also want to invite you to join my Fun in First Email Family.  This is the place to be to get all the latest freebies, ideas, and hopefully, a little inspiration along the way.

Give each student the vowels using foam or magnetic letters. Say a CVC word. The students hold up the vowel to show the middle sound that they hear.
Super easy and effective💙
