If you do not own The Book with No Pictures, get it now. Seriously! Your students will LOVE it!!!
I read this book to my class on Thursday, and of course, they thought it was so hilarious! After we read it, we decided that we needed to “play a trick” on our principal, and have her read the book.
We wrote a letter together as a class.
When I delivered the letter to her, I cannot even begin to tell you how excited my students were. (I also gave her the book to preview, but my students did not know that.) She came in today to read the book, and the children could not even contain themselves.
They were laughing SO hard, and giggling at the “trick” they played. The pure joy of a good book was priceless.
I can pretty much guarantee that this book will be a new classroom favorite!
Favorite read aloud! I had a few parents read it (one of whom is a radio announcer and did a fantastic job) and the kids lose their minds every time!!
How fun! I need to grab that book!

My kids were rolling on the floor last year when I had a mystery reader come in and read that book! It was kind of you to let her preview it first! 😉

Cute!
I JUST bought the book! Can't wait to play a fun trick 🙂
When read this book in Early Learning Centre, kids were rolling on the floor. They were laughing so hard.
This book is fantastic! The first time I heard it was when one of my student's mom came in to be a guest reader. She introduced the book and I recognized the author (mainly from watching the Office 🙂 I wasn't sure how it would go but once she started reading it, the kids were dying with laughter! I knew I had to get this book! Our school had a fundraiser night at Barnes and Noble and some of the teachers were celebrity readers. I decided to volunteer and read The Book With No Pictures. The kids (and parents) LOVED it! There is an academic piece, which involves students using their own expression to make it funny because there are no pictures to rely on. This is a great way to incorporate fluency into the classroom.
I love your idea of inviting your principal in to read the book. Maybe I will try this next year!
