100th Day

100th Day Challenge

February 5, 2018 by Jodi 3 Comments

The 100th Day of School Challenge is a fun and engaging way for your students to practice their academic skills while collaborating and earning challenge tickets.

A couple of weeks ago, we had our 100th Day of School.  It is always such a fun day, and one that the students look forward to.  Along with the traditional things that I have done for the past couple of years for the 100th Day of School, I added in the 100th Day of School Challenge.  This was set up just like the Christmas Challenge.

The 100th Day of School Challenge is a fun and engaging way for your students to practice their academic skills while collaborating and earning challenge tickets.

I love these challenges because my students have to work cooperatively together to solve 10 academic challenges.  After they solve a challenge, they earn a challenge ticket envelope.  Inside of the envelope is a mystery word that they have to solve using the code.  It is amazing how excited they get when they earn each of their tickets.

It’s an easy to prep activity that the students love, and they don’t even realize they are learning.

“My students loved the challenges. They even begged to skip indoor recess to keep working on them! So engaging!” -Alyssa

Our 100th Day of School

January 28, 2016 by Jodi 2 Comments

Monday was our 100th Day of School.  I meant to share these pictures on Monday night, but life threw a huge curveball at me and it’s been a really rough week.
I decided to break my students up into 4 groups after some inspiration from my friend Cara at The First Grade Parade.  I had them complete 100 day themed activities at each station.

We made gumball machines at one of our stations.  I bought a package of paint dobbers and my students put 100 dots on their paper plates.  Then, they filled in the bottom of their gumball machine.

It was definitely challenging for a couple of them to keep track of how many gumballs they had made.  We talked about how to organize ourselves when doing this project.  For example, make 10 green dots, then 10 yellow dots, etc.  You can grab the free gumball machine download by clicking HERE.
One of their favorite stations, which again, I found on The First Grade Parade, was the cup station.  I placed 100 red solo cups on the carpet and let them work together to build away.  They LOVED it!
Another group worked on 100 day necklaces that we bought from Really Good Stuff.
At the last station, I placed 100 pattern blocks in bags.  Each student at the station had their own bag to create whatever they wanted.
Later on in the day, we completed activities from my 100 Day Booklet.  You can click on the picture below to check it out.

Our 100th Day

January 24, 2013 by Jodi 16 Comments

Yesterday was our 100th Day of School.  This is always such a fun day.  It seemed to sneak up so early this year for some reason.
We began our day with some 100th day morning work.
We usually do our Common Core Morning Work packet, so this was a surprising change for them.
We also made these fun hats.

Each student had 10 strips of paper.  I placed white paint in the middle of each table and the students put 10 fingerprints on each strip.
They loved it and since it was only one finger, it wasn’t too messy. The hardest part is going around and stapling it all.  If you can get some help with stapling all the hats together, I highly recommend it.
The rest of the morning consisted of working on our 100 Day packets.
Just click on the picture above to check out the unit.

The students loved the variety of activities.
Dice Roll and Tally Game
Exercising for 100 seconds

In the afternoon, I gave each student a 1 and two 0’s to glue onto their papers and decorate however they wished.

Here are some freebies for your 100th day.  Or, use them next year if yours has already passed.  Just click on a picture to download.

Our 100th day was a lot of fun!  Have you had your 100th day yet?

It’s Almost February!

January 23, 2013 by Jodi 2 Comments

I have been completely consumed with the fundraiser for Katelyn and I haven’t been on here much and haven’t posted anything on TpT forever!  However, I could not be happier with the outcome of the fundraiser.  We are a little over $1,000 away from our goal!!!
This weekend was a 3 day weekend, so I finally sat down and finished my February Common Core Morning Work.

Tomorrow is our 100th Day of School!  We will be working on this packet to help us celebrate.

Click on the picture above to check it out.
I’ll be back soon to post some pictures of our 100th Day!

Our 100th Day

January 29, 2012 by Jodi 12 Comments

We had our 100th day on Thursday.  Even though it’s always suppose to fall at the end of January, it never does because of snow days.  This year, we have had a serious lack of snow and have had no snow days so far.  I’m not complaining!  I’d much rather not make them up in May and June.
Last year, I shared a couple of 100 Day pages.  Here they are again.

Here is a cover page and two other pages that we also do on our 100th day.

You can also download some 100th Day bookmarks by clicking below on the picture.
Here are a couple of pictures from our 100th Day!
This picture made me laugh because he told me that he is so old that he fell asleep standing up 🙂

These were our fun hats that we made.  I had purchased the 100 day crowns from Really Good Stuff.  Then I gave each student 10 1×12 strips.  They took their fingers and painted 10 dots onto each strip (1o dots x 10 strips = 100 dots).

We also did these fun pictures that I saw on Pencils, Glue, and Tying Shoes.
He used the 100 to make a railroad crossing.

We always do this poem that I had found in The Mailbox magazine a couple years ago.
We had a fun day and the 1st graders LOVED it!!
