Spring Challenge

Spring Challenge

Students love to compete with each other! Honestly, they will make a competition out of just about anything. This includes being first in line to making a paper basketball in the trash. It even seems like they have a competition on who can be the loudest some days. So, combining this desire with academics is the perfect way to increase engagement. Luckily, this activity does exactly that!

Academic Challenges

The Spring Challenge includes 10 academic challenges that are all math and language arts-based. Students will work in small groups to build collaboration during each challenge.

Every activity focuses on essential academic standards. For instance, students will work on fact families, double-digit addition, the 100s chart, and telling time. This includes on the hour and half hour. Additionally, they will work on fact families, bossy R words, sequence writing, beginning blends, and ABC order. There is even a fun spring word search.

Spring Challenge Tickets

After solving each challenge, the class will open a challenge ticket envelope and solve a special code word. The winning team is the first team to solve all 10 code words correctly! Students will have so much fun working with their group. Best of all, this format means students stay engaged and focused.

Do you need a fun, engaging, and academic activity for your class to complete anytime this spring? The Spring Challenge is your answer. Easy Organization

One of the best parts about preparing the Spring Challenge is the easy organization! The resource includes directions for each challenge. Additionally, there are 10 corresponding envelope labels to ensure everything stays organized. Each challenge even has a picture at the top that matches the picture on the challenge ticket. Honestly, this is such a helpful way to know which challenge tickets each group earned.

Some teachers even like to use a pocket chart. There are many ways to organize the challenges, so choose the one that works best for you and your students.

Grade Level

Due to the activities, the Spring Challenge works best for students in 1st or 2nd grade. Students in these grades have the foundation for the different academics involved. However, teachers know their students best, so it could also work for other grade levels.

Honestly, the Spring Challenge is a fantastic way to create fun, engagement, and excitement in the classroom.
