2nd Grade Comprehension Notebook

October 18, 2013 by Jodi 10 Comments

I have finally finished my Comprehension Notebook for 2nd grade.
I posted the 1st grade notebook 2 weeks ago and it has been a huge hit!  It was ranked #1 best seller last week and the feedback has been amazing! Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!

I use the 1st grade notebook during small group guided reading now and I love it.  It’s quick, easy, and the students love it.  I copied these double sided and bound them with the machine we have at school.

Mel sent me this picture of how she is using the notebook.
She printed them at 75% and has students glue them into their Interactive Notebooks.  I LOVED that idea!  I also love that her students are going back into the text and highlighting their answers.  One of our “key errors” for our school improvement plan at school is not going back into the text.  This is perfect for practicing that strategy!
You can head on over to my TpT store to check out the 2nd grade notebook.  I have a preview to download, so make sure you check that out.

This looks wonderful. I switched from 1st to 2nd grade with my students and this is a quick way for them to practice a task. I follow you on facebook and love so many of your ideas. Thank you for helping me be a better teacher.

Purchased the first grade version to use in my 2nd grade classroom currently…but am so excited you created a 2nd grade version! I can now use the first grade for my low kiddos but move my on level/above level kids onto the other version!

I just purchased the 1st grade version to use with my struggling 2nd graders. I just didn't want to wait. 🙂 I'm so happy the 2nd grade version is available.

Our school, too, is focusing on returning to the text. I do that a lot as a whole group using the SMARTboard. Now I will have a text source that the students can mark on!

We are working so hard on text evidence and these would be a great way to practice!

I love the idea of pasting them in a notebook. I'm only allowed 5 copies at a time, and couldn't figure out how to get these done. If only I could afford to get them all printed and bound…

Give each student the vowels using foam or magnetic letters. Say a CVC word. The students hold up the vowel to show the middle sound that they hear.
