January Differentiated Reading Passages
The January differentiated reading passages include an entire month of resources! Specifically, there are 4 differentiated nonfiction passages and 4 differentiated fiction passages. Each passage has 3 levels! So, there are 24 passages to support every student in the classroom.
In addition to the passages, there are lesson plan examples, vocabulary cards, and pre-reading activities. Additionally, there are comprehension questions, a comprehension graphic organizer, and a writing response page. Honestly, this is a one-stop shop for your small group reading lessons!
1st Grade Differentiated Reading Passages for the Year
After using the January differentiated reading passages, students will fall in love with reading. They will feel relieved to have instruction at their level and be excited to see their growth. Luckily, there are differentiated reading passages for the entire year! So, all of your small group reading lessons are ready to go!
Specifically, this bundle includes 10 monthly packets of first-grade reading passages. Each month contains 8 passages in 3 differentiated levels. So, there are 24 total passages for each month. Additionally, every passage includes a lesson plan, vocabulary cards, and a pre-reading activity. There is also a comprehension graphic organizer and a writing response page for students to work on after reading.
Each month also focuses on specific literary skills. For instance, students work on the main idea and supporting details in September and compare and contrast in October. Overall, each month includes multiple skills to support students’ reading and literary skills growth!

Supporting Reading Groups in Multiple Grade Levels
One of the best parts of the differentiated reading passages includes the versatility among grade levels. While written for a 1st-grade classroom, the differentiated levels make them appropriate for other grade levels. For instance, the beginning level works well for 1st graders struggling with reading or kindergarteners learning to read well. The on-level passage works well for the majority of 1st graders. The highest level works well for advanced 1st graders or on-level 2nd graders. It is so nice to have one resource that works so well for multiple grade levels!
